One of the things we did agree to and ask the Commission to approve by the next item, is a disposition of certain parcels in L Salle Park to the LaSalle Park Council. The coulcil has pursued with the City an idea that a Center be built for the Senior Citizens residing in LaSalle Park for a number of years. There does not exist an adequate facility to meet their needs. There is a recreation center, but it does not contain meeting rooms and other things to accommodate the citizen's interest. The Salle Park Council requested money from Conmunity Development when I was the Director to provide for an addition to the LaSalle Park Center for this program but Community Development turned that request down primarily on the basis that we really didn't think it would work. I felt that the use would simply conflict and would not achieve the objectives o the plan. So, from that time to this time, we have always been interested in pursuing an effort to cause some s rt of center to be built in part to r place the existing ACTION, Inc. Center wftich is located at 2510 Western Avenue, j st outside of the renewal area South o Western.
