South BendlRedevelopment Commission
Regular Me ting - October 17, 1980
7. PROGRE$S REPORTS
Mr. McMahon continues...
or highlights that really focus in on it as being in
the heart of their downtown. I don't think that any-
one can ever confuse Century Center with a warehouse
or with just another building downtown, It speaks for
itself physically and very dramatically, and a number
of people expressed disappointment that their com
muniti s did not take the same position that South
Bend did in that regard when South Bend chose to do
someth ng more than just put up four walls.
Ms. De beck: In addition to the modern architecture,
some of those architects were really impressed with
the jot) that was done on Tippecanoe Place. They
thought that was another asset to downtown. Someone
told m that there were a lot of Romenesque mansions
around the country, but they thought that this was
one of the best Romenesque mansions.
8.
