Kolata continues... <br />The location of bus shelters is not <br />exactly the Department of Redevelopment's <br />responsibility, but we would like to see <br />that type of activity take place, because <br />we feel it would be a benefit to the type <br />of residential community that will be there. <br />Another thing we call for in the plan is the <br />ev ntual dedication of an easement along the <br />Ea t Bank of the river so that a continuous <br />pe estrian pathway can be built in the <br />future. We don't have a projection date on <br />th t but it is something we would like to <br />se in the future to further the <br />-De estrian orientation of the area. <br />The plan calls for the establishment of a <br />design review committee. The East Bank <br />Design Review Committee would consist of <br />five people, the Executive Director of the <br />Dept. of Redevelopment, (Chairman), the <br />City Engineer, the Director of the St. <br />Joseph County Area Plan Commission, the <br />City Building Commissioner and one member <br />to be appointed by the Redevelopment <br />Conmission. Primarily their purpose will <br />be to look at the plans as they are <br />submitted by developers, and review them <br />to see how they correspond to a set of <br />design guidelines, which have not yet <br />beEn totally established. The Design <br />Guidelines will be adopted by the <br />Redevelopment Commission and developers <br />will be able to get a copy of the Guide- <br />lines so that they will be aware of what we <br />ar looking for in terms of construction and <br />design. It will be necessary to have the <br />Design Review Committee approve plans and <br />send them on the Redevelopment Commission <br />for their confirmation before a proposal <br />wi 1 be approved. <br />As far as land acquisition, the map on the <br />wall has the area we are acquiring shaded <br />in blue. Primarily, we are acquiring the <br />East Race and three additional parcels. <br />TM first one, the South Bend Screw property, <br />is on the acquisition list because it is one <br />of the keys to development of the area and <br />is in a prime location. <br />7 <br />
