Engineering Department Radio Base Station. <br /> The radio base station in the Engineering Department <br /> is approximately forty years old. Earlier this year, <br /> severe problems occured in the transmit section of this <br /> base station, causing it to fail and be taken off the <br /> air. The unit is not repairable due to age and lack <br /> of the availability of parts . <br /> 2 . Street Department Radio Base Station. <br /> The radio base station in the Street Department is <br /> over 25 years old. Earlier this year we had problems <br /> in the transmit section of this base station. This <br /> base station was manufactured by RCA which has not been <br /> in the two-way communication business in over fifteen <br /> years. This makes the availability of replacement <br /> parts non-existent for this unit. Although still in use, . <br /> this unit is not operating to specifications and any <br /> future problems could put the Street Department base <br /> station off the air. <br /> 3 . Police Department Radio Repeaters . <br /> The three repeaters for the Police Department are <br /> approximately twenty-two years old. With problems <br /> occurring more frequently, this equipment is becomming <br /> unreliable, replacement parts are becomming unavailable, <br /> and the Police Department depends on these for officer <br /> safety.
