Horton <br /> June 27, 1994. <br /> Members of The South Bend Common Council: <br /> This cover letter is being submitted as further explanation for <br /> The General Fund Appropriation Ordinance which is to receive <br /> first reading at this evenings meeting. <br /> This request is for several items that have been in discussion <br /> for sometime. Base radio' s for Engineering and Street <br /> Departments, Engineering' s base unit has failed and parts are no <br /> longer available. The Street Department base unit is in a <br /> similar situation. <br /> The repeaters for the Police Department are at various locations <br /> throughout the city. The current repeaters are old & frequently <br /> fail which can cause serious problems for Police Communications . <br /> I believe you are familiar with the Dam repairs and the <br /> underground storage tanks at the MSF Building. I will ask <br /> John L. to provide further detail on these items this week. <br /> The Fire Department Appropriation was not included in 1994' s <br /> original budget due to the timing of the completion of their <br /> bargaining agreement . <br /> The additional request for curb and sidewalk program is to <br /> appropriate the share of the costs we will be advancing for those <br /> residents who chose to sign a promissory note for their share of <br /> the costs. <br /> I will be sure to have additional detail on each of these items <br /> this week. <br /> Thank you for your consideration. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> NtTnA,6-• A.
