South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - August 3, 1979
FLOOR DISCUSSIONS (continued)
staff report which suggests that the building is to be
demolished. It is probably the worst alternative, but by
the same token it is necessary th.at we settle this issue
once and for all.
The Chair recognized Mrs. Janet Allen.
Mrs. All n: Have you placed a price on the Odd Fellows
Building?
Mr. Elli on: We presumed the cost would be the acquisition
of the b ilding. It was appraised at a price of $296,000.
Mrs. Allan: I feel you should offer to sell the building for
less because of purchases made in obtaining other parcels of
land. MV point is if you are going to sell the building, and
someone Aiants to buy it, I don't see why your department has to
know what exactly that owner plans to do with the building.
Mr. Ell% on: I agree under a normal situation, but we cannot
afford t sell the building and have a deal that ultimately fails.
7.
