March 21. 19;02. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 11. <br />Resolved by the Board of Pu'olic Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That <br />it is desirable .to vacate the following: hive acres of land, situated in the East half <br />( <br />1 2) of the South East fractional quarter (1/4) of Section Eighteen (18 ), Township .Thirty <br />seven North; of Range three (3) East, lying immediately South of and adjoining the right <br />of way of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Company, as located and established <br />October llth 1894; which 5 acres is bounded by a line running as follows, to -wit: Beg- <br />inning on the East line of said quarter section, at a point 66 feet South of the inter- <br />section of said East line, with the South line of said Railway Company's ri ght of way as <br />located and established October llth 1894 as aforsaid, thence running South on the East <br />line of said quarter section, ten (10) rods; thence West eighty (80) rods, to the West <br />line of said half -quarter se ttion; thence North ten (10) rods"to a point within sixty-six <br />(66) feet of said South line of said Railway Company's right of way; thence East eighty <br />(80) rods to the p;ace of beginning containing 5 acres. The following property may be <br />injuriously or beneficially effected by such vacation; Lots No. 1 and Lots No. 5 to 30 <br />inclusive in Roseland park. Lot No. 1 in Denslow's Plat, and a strip of land 66 feet in <br />width North and South lying between said Lehman's Plat and the right of way of the Lake <br />Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Company. Notice of this resolution shall be published <br />on the 22 day of March and on the 29 day of March 1902 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall .on the 1st day of April 1902 at 7:15 P. M. will <br />hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these pro- <br />cee dings. <br />Street Commissioner instructed to investigate crosswalks on Portage Avenue and <br />repair and replace same where necessary. <br />Engineer reported that at the present time there is no outlet for surface water <br />in the neighborhood of Fassnacht Avenue and Wilbur street and that there is no way of dis- <br />posing of this surface water until a sewer is constructed. <br />Plat of J. C. Knoblocks Subdivision of Lot 39 in Denistion and Fellows Addition <br />was submitted to the Board for approval. Referred to City Engineer for advice. <br />President. <br />
