South Bend edevelopment Commission
Regular Mee ing - May 4, 1979
6. NEW BUS$NESS (continued)
e.
for Resolution #578
ommonly known as Od
Mr. Butler: The Board of Public Works from the City of South
Bend adopted a Resolution on April 23, 1979, authorizing the
traiisfer of the Odd Fellows Building to Redevelopment in ex-
change for Parcel 6 -2, which is the Park on Block 6 along the
river, and Parcel 2 -13 which is the vacant grassy knoll across
from the Morris Civic Auditorium. The City, pursuant to that
resolution, executed a Quit -Claim Deed to the Department of
Redevelopment. Resolution #578 authorizes the Department of
Redevelopment to transfer parcel 6 -2 and 2 -13 to the City of
South Bend. I have, related to that resolution, the Contract
for Sale for Redevelopment by a public body covering those two
par els, and also a Quit -Claim Deed from the Department of
Red velopment to the City of South Bend covering those two
par els. Basically, we are not technically operating under
any HUD regulations with respect to this particular disposi-
tion, because it is a transfer to a public body. State Law
whi h governs the public agencies specifically authorizes
by tatute the transfer of property, and that is what we
are doing in this case.
Mr. Donaldson made a motion to approve Resolution #578, autho-
rizing acquisition of Parcel #9 -11, commonly known as Odd Fellows
Building, from the City of South Bend, and transfer of Disposition
Par els #6 -2 and 2 -13 to the City of South Bend, seconded by
Mr. Robinson and the motion was unanimously carried.
7.
