South Bend edevelopment Commission
Regular Mee ing - May 4, 1979
FLOOR DISCUSSION (continued)
Mr. Nimtz: Mr. Brademas, we are very pleased to have you here. As far
as I know, there have been no complete decisions made concerning the
Monroe-Sample Area. I am a member of the Historic Preservation Commission,
and it is o concern to the Commission about the homes that are in-
volved in this area. I have had several meetings with the Mayor and
with Mr. Jim Childs concerning the preservation of these buildings, and
they are very aware of the situation, particularly St. Joseph Street
homes. I b lieve that Mr. Childs is working on some plans for that. I
believe that; everyone has agreed that Edgewater Drive, River Avenue, and
Arch Avenue should remain purely residential. The development, by the
Tire Company and with Dainty Maid is private development of their own.
Through the years while I have been a member of the Historic Preservation
Commission a. number of commercial organizations have tried to put toge-
ther large nough pieces, but have never been able to do it successfully.
But Dainty id and the Tire Company have been able to do that. I will
say this, we would be quite pleased to have the commercial organizations
there to service the residents of Karl King Towers.
5. OLD BUSIms OLD BUSINESS
There w4s no old business to come before the commission.
6. NEW
a. Co mission
approval requested for Change Order #9 for
CHANGE ORDER #9
Charles
Brown Maintenance Co. Inc. for an increase in
APPROVED FOR
contract
price of 227.00 for an amended contract total
CHARLES BROWN
of $4,73b-00,
at the address of 1114 East Bissell Street,
MAINTENANCE CO.
as set
forth in letter from Mr. James Harcus, Director,
Bureau
of Housing.
Since
time of initial inspection the dining room ceiling
has
developed stains resulting from some upstairs bathroom
water
leakage. Also, we now discover that a window sash
is no
longer there. Participating contractor Mr. Charles
Bro
confirms the Bureau's position that sash existed at
time
of initial inspection. Approval is requested from
C
e Order #9 which will authorize repair of the above
items
and delete installation of an associated window
pane,
for a total cost increase of $227.00.
Ms.
Auburn made a motion to approve Change Order #9, for
Charles
Brown Maintenance Co., Inc. for an increase in
contract
price of $227.00, seconded by Mr. Robinson, and
the
motion was unanimously carried.
b.
