Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting
Novembe 3, 1978
7. PROGRESS REPORTS (Continued)
Mr. Wiggins: It has some possibilities in terms of the energy
pro lems. The government is or will be in the business of sponsoring
public transportation as a part of the energy conservation. There
are currently various funds available from time to time, and our bus
com any has taken advantage of what they can of it. It would seem
to e that this would have some possibilities going for it.
Mr. Ellison: It is my feeling that having a new federal facility
enhances the overall concept. The government has been lax in
lig t of the fact that the proposed innovation of the current
facility has been on the drawing board since 1970. Part of what
the government is concerned about is not only making good on a
pre ious commitment, but also implementing President Carter's
Urban Policy which mandates appropriate government action to
loc to new facilities in urban areas.
8.
