years ago, this Commission and the city sent an official delegation to
Cincinnati..
Mr.lWiggins: I remember it well.
Mr. Kagel: Right, we do, how well we remember because of the outstanding
program they have in Cincinnati, for neighborhoods. While we are singing
these praises and basking in the glories this morning, it would behoove
us to give very serious thought about this seminar that is.going to be
held here, under the auspices of Indiana University and the Chamber of
Com erce, especially in view of the cast of characters who are coming
here, from Washington and elsewhere. To consider the neighborhood
programs, the direction the administration is taking on self -help,
citizen and community involvement, involvement by business, industry,
com erce, etc ... perhaps you might consider this before you set the time
for your next meeting because the seminar is going to be on two days,
Aprl 21 and 22. Did you get a copy of that notice Wayne?
Mr.lBrownell: Yes.
Mr. Kagel: I believe that's enough said - we have been so fortunate and
ble sed here with these good announcements, let's take a look at this
pro ram..there is a small registration fee.
Mr. Brownell: Thanks very much John. I have a notice from IUSB with the
pro ram schedule and I have talked to Dr. Hojnacki about this matter
because Mr. Nimtz and I are on as discussion leaders in one of the sessions,
alo g with Howard Bessire.
Mr. Kagel: I am on the panel too but we have people coming in from around
the nation.
Mr. Brownell: I talked to Dr. Hojnacki about the fact
fli t in the morning and he said, "Oh, that won't make
you are scheduled in the afternoon" so he doesn't seem
us iearing what they say in the morning.
Mr.
Mr.
Dr.
the
at
mun
ret
Kagel: Who is speaking in the morning?
that we have a con -
any difference,
to worry about
Brownell: In the morning they have the welcome by Mayor Nemeth and
Wolfson, the Chancellor of IUSB and Dr. Frank Steggert, Director of
Department of Public and Environmental Affairs, IUSB. At 9 :00 A.M.
r have Dr. Hojnacki on with "Urban Conservation: The Time is Now ",
):15 the Hon. John Brademas with "Congressional Initiatives in Com-
ity Conservation" and at 9:30, Mr. Robert Embry, the Assistant Sec -
try for Planning and Community Development, HUD.
Mr.lKagel: You recall who the UDAG application went to?
Mr. Brownell: Oh sure, he's in charge of planning, we know him well and
he' a very important man in our projects.
Mr.
mat -
has
Brownell went on to relate the names of the speakers and subject
er for the afternoon session. He also mentioned the fact that he
a University of Michigan Class Reunion on the 28th of April, which
- 10 -
