OLD BUSINESS, (CONTINUED) <br />approval is requested for rejection and re -bid of Contract <br />Set #5, electrical work. The firm submitting low bid <br />(the only bidder) erred in totalling bid amounts more <br />than $500.00. Therefore, Mr. Kocsis, Joe Kocsis Electric <br />Company, requested an increase in bid amount. Legal <br />counsel has recommended that the contract be .re -bid. <br />Mr. Robinson observed that compared to the estimated <br />cost of the contract, the bid appears to be very low <br />so ""someone certainly got the figures wrong "; he moved <br />for rejection of bid and re -bid of the contract. Motion <br />was seconded by Mr. Donaldson and carried. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />a) Acquisition Assistance Proposal from S. M. Dix for proposed <br />property acquisition in the downtown area. <br />C. Wayne Brownell inquired of the Commission whether they <br />wished to discuss the proposal at this time - or wait <br />until staff has completed their work for presentation to <br />the Commissioners for their consideration. <br />The Chair suggested that this proposal be received and re- <br />ferred to staff and legal counsel for recommendation. <br />Ms. Derbeck asked if S. M. Dix are the "experts" on reloca- <br />tion .... Mr. Brownell indicated in the affirmative .... the <br />people we call on for this service. <br />Mr. Butler cited the reference in the Dix letter to the <br />"South Bend 2000" project - this of course is inaccurate, <br />we do not have a name for what we are doing in the downtown <br />area at this time. <br />Mr. Brownell said that we will put together a contract <br />according to this proposal and submit it for Commission <br />consideration. <br />b) Commission approval of contract award, heating contract - <br />Contract Set #5, to Area Services, Inc. for 6,143.00: <br />On recommendation of the South Advisory Board, request is <br />made for Commission approval of the following bid for <br />heating contract award, subject to legal counsel review <br />and South Bend Common Council approval: <br />Contract Set #5 Area Services, Inc. $6,143.00 <br />Owens Heating Co. 6,700.00 <br />Builders Whitt, Inc. 6,170.00 <br />
