<br />Mr. Wiggins made the motion to award Contract Nos. SECD /CS2 /19,
<br />SE D /CS4/34, SECD /CS4/37 and SECD /CS5 /40, to Slatile Roofing &
<br />Sheet Metal Company, in bid amounts of $7,945.99, $5,799.00,
<br />$7,575.00 and $6,213.00, respectively, as the low bidder, subject
<br />to South Bend Common Council and Commission Legal Counsel approval,
<br />an the President and Secretary be authorized to execute said con -
<br />tr cts. Motion was seconded by Mr. Cira and carried.
<br />Mr. Wiggins made the motion to award Contract Nos. SECD /CS4/36,
<br />SE D /CS5/38 and SECD /CD /CS5/42, to Area Services, Inc., in bid
<br />amounts of $7,749.00, $7,224.00 and $5,958.00, respectively,
<br />as the low bidder, subject to South Bend Common Council and Com-
<br />mission Legal Counsel approval, and the President and Secretary
<br />be authorized to execute said contracts. Motion was seconded by
<br />Mr. Cira and carried.
<br />g. Re abilitation Contract Nos. 11, 12 and 13*, in the Southeast Com-
<br />muiity Development Housing Program: Commission authorization was
<br />re uested to rescind the conditional award of Rehabilitation Con-
<br />tract Nos. 11, 12 and 130; to Newbill Construction Company, as
<br />re ommended by the Southeast Advisory Committee, in the Southeast
<br />Co munity Development Housing Program.
<br />Pr sident Nimtz asked Mr. Crighton to respond for the recommenda-
<br />tion requested by the Advisory Committee. Mr. Crighton advised
<br />that he was not at the Southeast Advisory Committee's meeting
<br />when this action was taken, but the reason on record to rescind
<br />co tracts awarded, Nos. 11, 12 and 13W, conditionally to Newbill
<br />Co struction Company is for non - compliance of the contracts.
<br />Th contractor had agreed to complete the contracts within a
<br />sp cified period of time as part of their conditional award made
<br />by the Commission. They received two extensions - -on July 29
<br />and August 4- -and they still have not complied with the deadline
<br />on the first home they are working on. Because of their performance,
<br />the Southeast Committee felt that the three remaining contracts not
<br />be processed under the Newbill Construction Company award, but that
<br />M staff will re- inspect, and re- advertise these contracts for new
<br />s.
<br />Mr Wiggins moved for the compliance with this request, subject to
<br />our Legal Counsel's approval, seconded by Mr. Cira and carried,
<br />which is to rescind the conditional award of Rehabilitation Con-
<br />tract Nos. 11, 12 and 13'!' to Newbill Construction Company; the
<br />staff is to re- inspect and re- advertise these contracts for new
<br />bids.
