ORDINANCE NO. X.57t9-9-5 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CERTAIN MONETARY FRINGE <br /> BENEFITS FOR FIREFIGHTERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br /> DURING THE CALENDAR YEARS 1995 AND 1996. <br /> Statement of Purpose and Intent <br /> In 1993, the South Bend Common Council passed certain <br /> ordinances fixing the annual pay and monetary fringe benefits of <br /> Firefighters of the South Bend Fire Department for the calendar <br /> years 1994 through 1996 . <br /> At the time of passage of the Fire Department' s salary <br /> ordinances of 1993, the South Bend Fire Department was in the <br /> process of establishing a confined space rescue team, and it was <br /> agreed by the City Negotiating Team and the Wage Committee of the <br /> South Bend Firefighters Association, Local No. 362, that the <br /> final determination of the appropriate amount of specialty pay <br /> for the members of that team could not be adequately determined <br /> until it was more clearly known what the duties, responsibilities <br /> and training requirements of the members of the team were. The <br /> South Bend Fire Department is now ready to fully implement its <br /> Confined Space Rescue Team. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows : <br /> Section I. Confined Space Specialty Pay <br /> Paragraphs 4 and 5 of Section III of Ordinance No. 8397-93 <br /> are amended to read as follows : <br /> 4 . Hazmat . For regularly assigned firefighters who <br /> meet the requirements of the Fire Department' s Hazardous <br /> Materials Response Team: <br /> 1994 1995 199G <br /> $772 $800 $820 <br /> 5 . Confined Space Rescue. - - - ' -- <br /> Department establishes a Confined Space Rescue Team, For <br /> regularly assigned firefighters who meet the requirements of the <br /> Confined Space Rescue Team: -shall be paid not less than $350 in <br /> 1995 and 199G . : <br /> 1995 1996 <br /> Level I $ 600 $ 600 <br /> Level II $1, 000 $1, 020 <br /> Level I of the Confined Space Rescue Team are those <br /> firefighters who meet the State' s requirements for Confined Space <br /> Rescue and are assigned to the Confined Space Rescue Team. Level <br /> II of the Confined Space Rescue Team are those firefighters who <br /> meet the State' s requirements for both Confined Space Rescue and <br /> Hazardous Material Handling and are assigned to both the Confined <br /> Space Rescue and Haz/Mat Teams . <br /> Section II. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full <br /> force and effect from and after its passage by the Common <br /> Council, approval by the Mayor, retroactive to January 1, 1995 . <br />
