Ehlers & Associates, Inc. letter dated June 16, 1976: <br />This letter is over the signature of Mr. Dudley A. Thompson re- <br />questing if there is a possibility of placing an under canopy <br />sign on the corner of Jefferson and Michigan on the Plaza. <br />Their firm represents Lincoln National Life.. <br />Mr. C. Wayne Brownell, Executive Director, Department of Re- <br />development, suggested the letter be received and referred to <br />Mr. Edwin R. Bauer and the Sign Committee. The Chair directed <br />the letter be received and referred to the Sign Committee. <br />5. OLE BUSINESS <br />None. <br />6. NE BUSINESS <br />a. <br />Commercial Lease with South Bend Public Transportation Corp.: <br />Authorization was requested to enter into Commercial Lease <br />with the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation, for <br />period from July 1, 1976, to and including December 31, 1976, <br />for use of Disposition Parcels 4 -65 and 4 -87 as a` central <br />bus transfer location, and to pay as rent for said leased pre- <br />mises the sum of $2.00, Project Indiana R -66. The previous <br />Commercial Lease was for period from January 1, 1976, to an <br />including June 30, 1976, in same rental amount. <br />Mr. Wiggins made the motion the Commission be authorized to <br />enter into said Commercial Lease with the South Bend Public <br />Transportation Corporation for the period of July 1, 1976, to <br />and including December 31, 1976, for a rental amount of $2.00 <br />for said period. Motion was seconded by Mr. Robinson and <br />carried. <br />Mr. Dave Anderson, WNDU -TV Reporter, raised the question on <br />why the lease is only for six months and why the stipulation <br />that they pay the $2.00? The Chair advised that we have been <br />reluctant to get into any long -term lease on this parcel be- <br />cause it is a disposition parcel, and we want to keep ourselves <br />fluid for any possible developments concerning superblock and <br />anything else that might develop. It is also his understanding <br />that the exact position or place for a bus terminal has not <br />been fully established or determined for the downtown area. <br />Commissioner Wiggins confirmed the statement that this is all <br />fluid.
