The property in question comprises Dean Johnson Park, as well as a number of miscellaneous lots in the Sample- Ewing Development Area. The Park Board has approved the transfer of this land to the South Bend Redevelopment Commission so that it may be used to further redevelopment activities in the Sample- Ewing Development Area, including the new juvenile detention center. The Redevelopment Commission has assured the Park Board that replacement facilities will be established elsewhere in the Sample-Ewing Development Area and that it will work with the Park Board to develop a plan concerning the same.
