Steinmetz, president of the
St. Joseph River Bend Development Corporation, revealed a model of the
co poration's plan for Block 6 near downtown.
Located alongside the city's Plaza Park immediately south of Jefferson
Boulevard, Block 6 planning calls for a high quality restaurant, an
"office park" consisting of eight to ten one and two-story buildings,
a rive -in banking facility, a 6 to 8- story, 200 -unit apartment for
th elderly, a convenience center to include a delicatessen, drug
stare, cleaners and laundromat, plus parking suitable to accomodate
upants and visitors.
Ne otiations are already underway with two prospective parties for
buildings in the office portion of Block 6 and bids have been re-
sutmitted to the Department of Housing & Urban Development for the
200 units of Section 8 Elderly Housing on the 2 -acre site at the far
Southeast end of the property.
Off icers and Principal stockholders of the St. Joseph River Bend
Development Corporation in addition to Mr. Steinmetz are George
He endeen, Vice President; Eugene Muia, Secretary; Joseph Fragomeni,
Tr asurer. Also, Richard A.
