PARKING PROPOSAL <br />The Chair formally recognized Mr. John Slafkosky, Republican candidate PARKING <br />for Mayor. PROPOSAL <br />REFERRED <br />Mr. Slafkosky distributed copies of his proposal to the Redevelopment. TO LEGAL <br />Commission in regard to the parking problem in the downtown area for COUNSEL <br />consideration and approval by the Department of Redevelopment. <br />Mr. Slafkosky proposed that the Department of Redevelopment take the. <br />two lots they are currently leasing to private for profit parking <br />lot operators for surface parking, and lease these two lots to a <br />'n t- for - profit corporation.' This organization would be created <br />by the downtown landlords and business owners in the downtown area, <br />and they, in turn, could provide free parking - -up to two or three <br />ho rs - -on these parcels of property which would help alleviate some <br />of the parking problems that we have in the downtown area.
