The
fountains should run without all the difficulties and expense
we have experienced in our short -term operation.
Mr. Simonds advised there are technical ways to take care
of hard water and they will certainly explore that. He also
advised they will be back in several weeks to see that the
problems are not incorporated into the new designs.
Disposition Parcel No. 6 -1:
Ms. Derbeck asked what the technical difficulties are with DISPOSITION
the bid Mr. Taylor's group offered, as we have said we had PARCEL NO.
problems with Associates' bid. She would like to know, and 6 -1, R -66
these things should be laid out. President Nimtz answered
her on why Mr. Medlock could not submit a bid on the present
land use. Ms. Derbeck said she fully understands why they
couldn't bid at this time, but is wondering why there are
technical difficulties in Taylor's bid. President Nimtz
advised there are several contingencies that HUD may not
approve.
Ms. Derbeck asked if Mr. Medlock will be given a chance to
bid, and said she would think the Commission would be co-
operative and consider how hard it is to get major developers
to develop anything. Lengthy answers and further discussions
followed on this subject. The context of the discussions
were similar to earlier discussions in these Minutes (6a)
and in the previous meeting.
Mr. Gene Evans, Executive Secretary, South Bend Civic Plan-
ning Association, did emphasise that we have a bid, without
going through any considerable effort and expense of further
making a land -use change to enable the potential developer
to bid, and that is a savings to the people of South Bend.
Ms. Derbeck, in conclusion, said she just wanted to clear
it up, as she has heard•a lot of questions on it.
URNMENT
e being no further business to discuss, motion was duly made ADJOURNMENT
adjournment by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Donaldson and
ied, at 11:20 a.m.
ownell, Exe utive Di eY81 F. ay N tz, esident
- 14 -
