8. PU$LIC HEARING (Cont'd
Mr. Brewnell:
Mr.
Mr. So'
Mr. Oe!
Mrs. A'
terling:
Itesz:
The.note on the.•schematic here says, 'For large bands or symphony
a portable platform (several heights) is suggested. Service and
emergency access under canopy.over stage.'
The stage area is between the two clumps of trees and its longi-
tudinal axes is parallel with the center line. (Designated in
yellow, and is more or less in center). That is a depressed stage
of about two feet from the surface of the present street area.
There are four benched areas where people could sit -- could accom-
modate-. 800 to 1,000 people--and then we have standing room for
people under trees, etc., for about 1:,500 to 2,000 people. This
seems to be in range that the people came up with this idea are
looking for as far as capacity is concerned.
Are there dressing rooms? Any dressing facilities?
;terling: Not with this proposal. With these proposals, there would have to
be an auxiliary.
Ilen: Where did you say the fire engines would go?
Mr. Oe terling: The fire engines would go underneath the stage area (where the red
lines are designated on the drawing through the cross section).
Mr. Wi gins: Risers would have to be set up then. You would have problems with
storage with the risers.
Mr. Brwnell: The stage would be at sidewalk level.
Mr. 04 terling: Right. This would all have to be reviewed by the Fire Department.
Mr. Fa%rand: The snorkel unit can go under that canopy?
Mr. Oe terling: Yes. It is the same height as what we have on the River Bend
Plaza.
Mr. Wibgins:
Alternate 'B' is basically our original concept of design. The
total cost for that minimum range from $460,000 to $550,000. All
this includes the sound system as the Commission wishes.
Now on the top alternate, the canopies over the stage would not
only carry the sound system, but also would carry the lighting?
Mr. Oe terling: That is correct.
Mr. Wiggins: In your presentation of this Plan with the hydraulic stage, you
speak of a trestle area that would carry the sound and lighting,
I assume?
Mr. Oesterling: Correct.
- 20 -
