7.
E:
GRESS REPORTS (Cont'd)
Commissioner Wiggins wanted to raise one question: "In terms of
mechanical" what about the rocks that'are currently loose from the
Epoxy and the rest of it, is that mechanical? Mr. Oesterling re-
lied, "No, that is under the three -year guarantee." Commissioner
Chenney asked if those are the black rocks they are speaking of?
Commissioner Wiggi.ns requested if he would "change the 'black' to
'gray' - a kind of ''wash -out gray' a't`that`."
LIC HEARING
T is being the conclusion of the items on the Agenda for the meeting,
M% Brownell chaired this part of the meeting for Item 5 under Old
B siness, a. Plans for Building Additional Plaza between Jefferson and
W shington Streets, R -66:
T is item, by consent, was placed as the last item of the meeting to allow
p blic input. This was discussed in the Commission meeting of May 9, under
Item 5a, at length, with the motion made and carried that this item be placed
oi the Agenda for the May 23rd meeting for public discussion and hearing.
T is item was also discussed at great length in Commission Meeting of Novem-
b r 1, 1974, under Item 6d, Preliminary Schematic.
M-. Brownell said we have essentially three (3) plans that have been sug-
g sted by Mr. Phil Simonds, the architect with Environmental Planning and
D sign, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who is doing the block between Jefferson
aid Washington Streets.
The first plan, on the wall now, indicates the hydraulic lift stage, 30 ft.
wide by 60 ft. long, going across the entire street. This is the one dis-
cussed at the Plaza Office at some length and discussed here. We agreed
to have this item discussed here again today so that everyone could have
a chance to make an input.
T o more plans will be placed on the wall.hE-,re- -one to show a permanent
s age at the side of the sidewalk and the stage being turned the other
w y, 30 ft. wide and 60 ft. long along the sidewalk on the east side of
tie street, and it would be permanent, and then it would be, as you can
s e, curbs 10 feet out from the stage, 6 ft. high and 10 ft. wide. A
1 ittle Plaza - like.
Tie third will be very much like the original design for the Plaza and I
will discuss each one. The three (3) plans are here that we are shoving
t is morning, and we would like to have your input. We only have three (3)
m mbers of the Commission here today, so probably will not resolve it today,
bit we will give everyone an opportunity to tell us about it and discuss it
a y way you wish. Is there anyone who wishes to make any comments about
t is plan?
Mr. Wilcox: A comment first. You said it has been discussed at the River
Bend Plaza. A motion was made, and I so informed the Commission
at the last meeting that this Alternate, which is 'D', I believe,
be accepted by this Commission, which was by unanimous vote of
the Committee, and I would also like to add that - -at least this
may be a jaundiced few - -but there are more people using the
- 16
