Other facilities <br />are in various stages of planning. <br />In fact, a federal post office — to <br />serve as a regional distribution <br />center — is scheduled to be <br />under construction this summer. <br />Our $7.4-million parking facility <br />contains space for 920 cars. <br />Rather than prc viding parking on <br />the street level it was built with <br />40,000 sq ft of space for shops <br />along the pla a. The building, <br />which was dedicated in February, <br />is an attractive addition to the <br />city's skyline. <br />We built the pedestrian con- <br />nector under t e plaza to City <br />Center I. It can be extended to <br />service other ne1V buildings plan- <br />ned in the area. <br />Youngstown residents and bus- <br />iness people are so happy with <br />the revitalization that the city ad- <br />ministration and city council is <br />considering extension of the <br />plaza for three blocks further <br />west on Federal Street, at an esti- <br />mated cost of $1 74 million. This <br />project will assurne high priority <br />in budgeting of $3.7. million in - <br />community development funds <br />the city will re eive. this year. <br />While the p aza extension <br />would be ped strian- oriented <br />and designed to arry out the re- <br />laxed, informal t eme, it might <br />have to accom Odate a traffic City -owned 920 -car parking facility can service new buildings at the <br />lane to handle se vicing needs of east end of the Youngstown Federal Plaza.
