historic pr ry '
ese anon commission
of south bend and st. joseph county
ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING
south bend,indiana 46601(219)235-9798
October 27, 1995
Common Council of the City of South Bend
C/O Ms. Irene Gammon, Clerk of the City of South Bend
4th Floor County-City Building
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Honorable Council Members,
Attached, please find the proposed amendment to the City of South Bend's
Zoning Ordinance. The purpose of the amendment is to designate the object
in-situ located at the northwest corner of Napoleon and Stanfield Streets as a
Local Historic Landmark.
At the October 9 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee, John Oxian,
president of the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph
County, sought an amendment to bill 51-95 to designate the above mentioned
property as a Local Historic Landmark along with the similar object listed in
that bill. At that time it was determined to not attach this designation to
the designation of the lamp-post at the corner of Pokagon and Stanfield
Streets but to bring it to the council as a seperate issue.
Also attached is a copy of the statement of Architectural and Historical
Significance.
Yo truly,
411(1/1:41411111"/
David B.
