OLD BUSINESS
a
b
Dainty Maid Bake Shop Sign, R -66: Mr. L. Kent Wilcox,
Acting Executive Director, advised this item had been
discussed in the last Commission meeting, (October 4),
with the request the Commission pay for the reinstalla-
tion of their sign. Their sign was removed to have the
canopies installed on the River Bend Plaza and they are
requesting to have it installed 30" higher than the
original installation, which would involve extra costs.
Mr. Wilcox advised the Sign Committee has approved the
sign to be in conformity with the sign regulations.
Staff is presently negotiating with Dainty Maid Bake
Shop, to prorate the costs for installing the sign
30" higher. This item will be on the Agenda for Com-
mission action at the next meeting and /or when negoti-
ations are completed.
Recommendation for the pools and fountains in the
River Bend Plaza, R -66: Mr. Bill E. Slabaugh,
Engineer, Department of Public Works, submitted a
written report of his meeting held October 16, at
the River Bend Plaza Office, with Lou Wilcox, Elaine
Condon, Karl King, Tom Oesterling, Jim Zackrocki,
Charles Colip, Daryl Graf, himself, Al Levy, J. Ward
Dare, and Dennis Miller. (The last four are the
Phase II, Project Engineers, Inspector, and two (2)
of the permanent Maintenance Personnel.)
Mr. Slabaugh gave a lengthy report, in the previous
session of this meeting with the public present. Mr.
Slabaugh recommended we introduce a water treatment
in each of these pools as hard water is the problem.
He suggested we have the water run through an Analog
Computer, by UNI -CHEM CORPORATION, to test the
hardness of the water, to know what materials will
be needed to treat the pools. Mr. Slabaugh advised
that Mr. King, the plumbers and engineers agreed this
be placed in the maintenance program of the pools.
This had not been determined by the designers, when
presented to the Commissioners for approval, as they
thought it could be treated by hand chemicals. Mr.
Slabaugh said this is one of the items in the mainte-
nance agreement, as the PH was quite high.
- 7 -
DAINTY MAID BAKE
SHOP SIGN, R -66,
TABLED FOR NEGOTI-
ATION
RECOMMENDATION
FOR POOLS AND
FOUNTAINS, RIVER
BEND PLAZA, R -66
