The City Engineering De- <br />partment will do the inspections and the engineering on <br />the job. If they run into a problem and require any of <br />the additional items - -if they are requested to do it by <br />staff - -then they would be covered for the extra costs. <br />The motion was made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Wade <br />and unanimously carried, that the President and Secretary <br />were authorized to enter into the contract with Lawson <br />Associates, with the stipulation that any specific items <br />of the contingency of Engineer's Additional Services, will <br />have to be approved by the Acting Executive Director, <br />(L. Kent Wilcox), and /or the Executive Director, in <br />writing. No staff member, other than the Director, is <br />authorized to give approval, to start any portion of the <br />contingency fund work. <br />In checking the interpretation of the additional services <br />in the contract, Lawson Associates advises the additional <br />services, plus the engineer's basic fee, would not exceed <br />$3,500.00 -- $500.00 above the engineering fee originally <br />authorized, if requested. <br />BUSINESS <br />Dainty Maid Bake Shop Sign: This item was discussed at <br />length in the previous session, with the public present. <br />Quotations received for the sign work to relocate the <br />sign brackets and refinish interior wall surface are: <br />Aulm Construction Co., Inc. $ 799.00 <br />Visual.Dynamics, Inc. 788.00 <br />Woodcox Building Contractor, Inc. 1,080.00 <br />H. F. Glaser 925.00 <br />G. R. Nunemaker Builders 826.00 <br />Mr. David L. Hab, representing Dainty Maid Bakery Shop, <br />is requesting the bracket be moved up about 30" and set <br />back into the masonry wall. If they put a lighted sign <br />up, unless the people are across the street, they do not <br />see the lighted sign. If the sign were to be moved back <br />against the building at the present height, they would <br />not be able to see it; it is necessary to move it up. <br />Mr. Tom Oesterling, joint venture consultant for the <br />Plaza designers, said that he believed the designers had <br />recommended only two sign elements be authorized, and <br />that the graphic signs would be perpendicular and on the <br />canopies, to be fabricated by the North American Sign <br />Company only for uniformity, and the other:underneath <br />DAINTY MAID <br />BAKE SHOP <br />SIGN, TABLED <br />FOR ACTION, <br />R -66 <br />
