Central Downtown Urban Renewal Projeet;'R46: <br />1) Construction Schedule: <br />Mr. Lennon advised that Mr. Mark Griffin, from <br />met with our staff, city engineer staff, for the inspec- <br />of the Plaza and to go over the Hickey contract and the <br />^ior Design contract, to cover any problem areas before <br />ithorize final payment and turn the River Bend Plaza over <br />to city. <br />Mr. Dan Akin, site project engineer, advised <br />yesterday they went over the punch list and that approximately <br />90% of the work is completed. About two or three items of <br />any importance needs to be done. The circuit breaker by <br />Western Avenue is faulty and needs to be replaced. One elec- <br />trical panel for the pole at the parking structure has not <br />been shipped yet. Also the traffic signal at the intersec- <br />tion, the utility vault top at Baer's leaks, the sidewalk at <br />Jefferson and Michigan needs to be replaced, and other than <br />that a few minor items need to be completed. Mr. Burroff, <br />with Exterior Design, has been planting trees on Jefferson <br />Boul yard and that will be completed. <br />The reference to the sidewalk surface being rough <br />under the canopy section of Jefferson stated by President <br />Helm n, Dan Akin advised that was the portion he had referred <br />to aid that will be replaced. <br />Dan Akin also advised the sidewalk was under <br />Contract II -B, with Arco Construction Company and that work <br />had been accepted about a year and a half ago, and he believes <br />that would be covered by their maintenance bond. <br />The architects are not satisfied with the Pool I in <br />front of the Morris Civic Auditorium and are looking into putting <br />a baffle in to control the waves over the granite. President <br />Helm en and Mr. Chenney both stated they like that effect - -the <br />aesthetics. <br />2) River Bend Plaza Schedule and Activities: <br />Mr. Louis N. Wilcox, Director of the River Bend <br />Plaz , distributed the schedule of activities - -usual active <br />week nd-- weather permitting of course. <br />A discussion on the 220 outlets was held, and be- <br />cause of the additional cost involved, the Redevelopment Com- <br />mission will not, at this time, install 220 outlets.
