7. OROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd <br />of Re evelopment, which we own. Our architect is doing <br />the work; the Visual Improvement people are doing the <br />job or the site; and we do plan to charge rent which will <br />be ap lied to Mr. Wilcox's account to get some of the in- <br />come tack. This is temporary and that building will be <br />demolished. There is a need for a Plaza office. <br />Mr. M ller asked if there are any funding suggestions <br />for flat Authority, and Mr. Wilcox advised that this is <br />one ol the items delegated to the Advisory Committee. <br />Mr. M ller said: "You are working fast with no funds." <br />Mr. W lcox said that we are currently working on approach- <br />ing p ivate sources for funding. He is a consultant from <br />the D partment of Redevelopment at this point. All pro - <br />motio al expenses will be privately funded. <br />Mr. Lennon advised that we have hired, for approximately a <br />six -m nth period, a secretary for the Plaza office who will <br />be paid from the Community Development account, and the office <br />supplies, etc., are out of the Department of Redevelopment <br />account. <br />Mr. Wilcox further advised that we are ninety (90) days away <br />from he Grand Opening and that this deadline is right around <br />the corner. <br />4. Wayne Street Consideration: Mr. Lennon requested <br />Commission authority to explore the renderings, planning and <br />archi ectural design for the possibility of having an island <br />place somewhere between Main Street and St. Joseph Street. <br />Also, if we may allow one car lane for pickups at the Plaza; <br />e.g., drop off at Dainty Maid. <br />On mo ion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and unani- <br />mous) carried, the staff was authorized to explore the above. <br />. A -10: Mr. Lennon advised that we have two major <br />conce ns: Earlier in this meeting, we received permission <br />from he Commission to go ahead and advertise the remaining <br />build ngs for demolition. We will have the groundbreaking . <br />on th Fire Station the second week in April. Mayor Jerry <br />J. Miler had announced this at a Press Release this morning <br />at 9: 0 a.m. <br />The hi <br />Sales <br />to the <br />Reveni <br />PAC ti <br />fusing ordinance will be presented allowing the Bulk <br />Homesteading on the Southeast side will be presented <br />Council. We are waiting for one legal concern for <br />ie Sharing money.
