Rayford, Equal Opportunity CONFERENCE, DEMOLITIO <br />Assistant, advises HUD authorization to schedule and conduct & SITE CLEARANCE CON - <br />the p econstruction conference for Demolition & Site Clearance TRACT NO. 35, R -66 <br />Contract No. 35, Project Indiana R -66. <br />This preconstruction conference is being held this morning, <br />by our EEO staff. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unani- <br />mously carried, the above letters were received and placed <br />on file. <br />5. O1D BUSINESS <br />a Recommendation for River Bend Plaza Director, R -66: RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />Upon the recommendation of the Executive Director, Mr. Louis DIRECTOR NAMED: <br />N. Wi cox was named the River Bend Plaza Authority Director, LOUIS N. WILCOX <br />at a salary of $5,000.00, for the period of time March 1, 1974, <br />to September 1, 1974. This salary is based on one -half his <br />present salary for six months and he will devote the necessary <br />time to the completion of the structures established in the <br />naming of the River Bend Plaza Authority. Mr. Wilcox will re- <br />tain iiis position with the Robertson's Department Store on an <br />one -h if time basis. <br />The m tion was made by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins <br />and u animously carried, Mr. Louis N. Wilcox was named Director <br />of th River Bend Plaza. <br />Mr. Wilcox accepted the assignment and spoke briefly on his <br />concepts of generating interest in the River Bend Plaza area <br />and that he views this appointment as a great challenge. He <br />felt since the original discussions of the possibility of a <br />mall, that this will make our City the most outstanding city <br />in the United States and he certainly views the River Bend Plaza <br />as a 'people place "'to have events and involve people in cultural, <br />commercial, educational and recreational activities for all. <br />Mr. W lcox will have a full -time River Bend Plaza office, at <br />112 S )uth Michigan Street. His office will be open to all seg- <br />ments of the community for comments and suggestions. <br />Mr. Wilcox thanked the Commissioners for the consideration and <br />his a pointment and that he looks forward to working on the many <br />plans already announced and to reinforce his belief that South <br />Bend 4ill continue to grow and prosper as one of America's great <br />citie . <br />Presi ent Helmen said that Mr. Wilcox is very enthusiastic about <br />the P aza and as the plans develop he will be even more so.
