BILL NO. 50-96 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 6�(� " 9C <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY AND MONETARY FRINGE <br /> BENEFITS OF FIREFIGHTERS OF THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> FOR CALENDAR YEARS 1997. 1998. 1999 AND 2000. <br /> Statement of Purpose and Intent <br /> The South Bend Common Council has the responsibility for fixing, by ordinance, the <br /> annual compensation of all member so the South Bend Fire Department pursuant to Indiana Code <br /> § 36-8-3-3 (d). <br /> On March 25, 1996, the South Bend Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2350-96 <br /> which appointed Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand as their agent and an advisory City Negotiating Team <br /> to negotiate on their behalf. On April 10, 1996, the Board of Public Safety adopted Resolution <br /> No. 27-1996 which appointed Kevin Horton as their agent and four (4) resource persons to <br /> negotiate on their behalf working conditions of the South Bend Fire Department. <br /> The City Negotiating Team and the Wage Committee of the South Bend Firefighters <br /> Association,Local 362 reached a tentative agreement on all pay and monetary fringe benefit issues <br /> and working conditions on June 25, 1996. The members of the Union will complete voting on the <br /> ratification of the wage and benefit package on July 18, 1996. <br /> The following ordinance sets forth the details of the first four-year wage and benefit <br /> agreement in the history of the City of South Bend. The City Agents and the City Negotiating <br /> Team unanimously recommend that this ordinance be passed by the South Bend Common Council, <br /> if the wage and benefit provisions are ratified by the members of the South Bend Firefighters <br /> Association,Local No. 362. <br /> The following ordinance sets forth a fair and equitable agreement which would be in the <br /> best interests of the South Bend Fire Department, its employees, and the City of South Bend, <br /> Indiana. <br /> foio, tbereforc 4 it orbatiu by the Common toutteil of tie tits of toutb <br /> Oath-, Initial , as follows: <br />
