Pr sident Helmen, Presiding Officer, stated the business before the gr up tonight is the Public Hearing on the Neighborhood Development Pr ject, Indiana A -10, for the first year action areas, designated as Model Neighborhood #1 (MN #1), and Southeast Neighborhood Area #1 (SI #1) At this point the Chair turned the podium over to Mr. Charles F. Lennon, Jr., Executive Director, Department of Redevelopment. Mr. Lennon said he will make a brief overview of the program, as Director of the Department of Redevelopment; Mr. Conrad Damian Vice President of th Southeast side PAC Committee, has requested a few moments to read a statement; Mr. Ed Luczkowski, Chairman of the PAC Committee in Model Cities, ha the same request; and Mrs. Louvenia Cain, Chairman of the Model Neighbor - hod Planning Agency, also would like to make a statement before action of thE Commission. Basically, we are here tonight to discuss and have a Public Hearing on the Neighborhood;Development Program as it relates to the One -Half Million Dollar Grant'for; the Model Cities Area and the One -Half Million Dollar Grant for the Southeast Side. Area. The Commission has in front of them the parti- cular first - action year for both areas, with the letters of intent by Mayor Jerry J. Miller for the Model Cities Program, and Mr. Dorman Ronk, Executive Secretary of'the Benevolent Board of the Brethren Church. The proper notification has been made for the Public Hearing. It is being duly recorded for the record. The Public Hearing was advertised in The South Bend Tribune on April 9, 10, 16 and 23, 1973. The Area Plan Commission met and approved the land use on April 17, 1973. The City Council met last Monday, April 23, 1973, and approved the land use, and we are here in order to Tieet the deadline of May 1st for the Department of Housing and Urban De- velopment. Involved are approximately thirty (30) families in each area. It aill be total clearance in both areas -- eleven (11) acres in the Southeast
