Pr sident Helmen, Presiding Officer, stated the business before the <br />gr up tonight is the Public Hearing on the Neighborhood Development <br />Pr ject, Indiana A -10, for the first year action areas, designated <br />as Model Neighborhood #1 (MN #1), and Southeast Neighborhood Area #1 <br />(SI #1) At this point the Chair turned the podium over to Mr. Charles <br />F. Lennon, Jr., Executive Director, Department of Redevelopment. <br />Mr. Lennon said he will make a brief overview of the program, as Director <br />of the Department of Redevelopment; Mr. Conrad Damian Vice President of <br />th Southeast side PAC Committee, has requested a few moments to read a <br />statement; Mr. Ed Luczkowski, Chairman of the PAC Committee in Model Cities, <br />ha the same request; and Mrs. Louvenia Cain, Chairman of the Model Neighbor - <br />hod Planning Agency, also would like to make a statement before action of <br />thE Commission. <br />Basically, we are here tonight to discuss and have a Public Hearing on the <br />Neighborhood;Development Program as it relates to the One -Half Million <br />Dollar Grant'for; the Model Cities Area and the One -Half Million Dollar Grant <br />for the Southeast Side. Area. The Commission has in front of them the parti- <br />cular first - action year for both areas, with the letters of intent by Mayor <br />Jerry J. Miller for the Model Cities Program, and Mr. Dorman Ronk, Executive <br />Secretary of'the Benevolent Board of the Brethren Church. <br />The proper notification has been made for the Public Hearing. It is being <br />duly recorded for the record. The Public Hearing was advertised in The <br />South Bend Tribune on April 9, 10, 16 and 23, 1973. The Area Plan Commission <br />met and approved the land use on April 17, 1973. The City Council met last <br />Monday, April 23, 1973, and approved the land use, and we are here in order <br />to Tieet the deadline of May 1st for the Department of Housing and Urban De- <br />velopment. Involved are approximately thirty (30) families in each area. <br />It aill be total clearance in both areas -- eleven (11) acres in the Southeast <br />
