Bauer, <br />Reha ilitation Architect, submitted his written report for <br />Febr ary, 1973: <br />Remo eling work is now completed for Service Drugs, a prescrip- <br />tion outlet located at 101 Western Avenue. <br />Inte for renovation is underway at new headquarters of Urban <br />Leag e, now located at 320 South Main Street. The building, <br />form rly used as an educational building for the First Christian <br />Chur h, required flooring replacement, walls and ceilings re- <br />pain ed, some ceiling repair, lighting replacement, wood re- <br />fini hing, installation of new kitchen equipment, installation <br />of c assroom furnishings, and general housekeeping due to being <br />vaca t for several years. <br />Tena t work completed and open for business at Baron's Shoes, <br />301 outh Michigan Street, and Peanut Shop, 303 South Michi- <br />gan treet. Tenant work is scheduled to begin in mid March <br />for emaining two retail spaces in recently completed building <br />at M chigan and Wayne Streets. <br />Inte for and exterior renovation 95% complete at new offices <br />and nlarged showrooms of C. E. Lee Company, 217 South Main <br />Stre t. Although not directly located in Project Area, they <br />are 6o be commended for their efforts in completing this ambi- <br />tiou project. <br />DOWNTOWN REHABILITA- <br />TION, R -66 <br />Rasm ssen's Store announced their intentions of occupying ap- <br />proximately 9,000 square feet of retail space in the new Annex <br />Buil ing to be constructed at 123 West Washington Street. Ground - <br />brea ing is scheduled for early March and their new quarters will <br />be c mpleted by September 1, 1973. <br />Office Engineers is planning to add approximately 7,000 square <br />feet to their existing properties. Although this new construc- <br />tion made possible by vacating the adjoining alleyways, is <br />primarily for stockhandling and storage use, provisions are be- <br />ing inade for approximately 1,000 suqare feet of new retail space. <br />Al S <br />has <br />101 <br />stor <br />divi <br />iith's Record Bar, after many months of temporary relocation, <br />subleased store space in former Wyman's Department Store, <br />forth Michigan Street. It is their intention to move existing <br />equipment into this building, pending Wyman's reuse place for <br />ling the space. <br />- 10 - <br />
