4. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS (Cont'd <br />The Fresident of the Commission announced that all taxpayers <br />and rersons interested would be heard in regard to the appro- <br />priation of the proceeds of the bonds of the District. There <br />beinc no comments from the audience, the Chair requested the <br />record to show that no one appeared in opposition to this <br />appr priation, and the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Upon motion duly made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney <br />and �arried, Resolution No. 418 was unanimously adopted. <br />5. ICOMMUNICATIONS <br />None. <br />6. IOLD BUSINESS <br />a. Northern Indiana Historical Society: Mr. Taylor <br />advised this is a request to change the land use at the <br />Sout west corner of Washington and Lafayette Boulevard per <br />Nort ern Indiana Historical Society Board's resolution and <br />reco endation-- tabled from Commission meeting of July 7, <br />1972 <br />This area was designated under the Urban Renewal plan for <br />open space and Northern Indiana Historical Society has re- <br />quested that the use be changed so that some construction <br />and Expansion can take place. It is the recommendation of <br />the staff that the Amendatory Application for Indiana R -66 <br />be a ended to permit construction on that site for a low <br />building, basically an underground building, height not to <br />exce d the plaza height, and that the top be landscaped <br />similar to the South side of the Historical Building and <br />that it be treated so that it looks like an addition to <br />the Elevated plaza. <br />Mr. <br />iggins offered the following statement as a motion: <br />"Construction of a structure upon the land as an <br />extension of the Northern Indiana Historical <br />Museum be permitted provided, however: <br />"(1) the roof deck of such structure shall be <br />developed to maintain the predominate open <br />space theme including park furniture such <br />as benches, fountains, monuments and land- <br />scaping, <br />"(2) that the roof deck of such structure, ex- <br />clusive of any park furniture, shall not <br />exceed in height the open space deck imme- <br />diately south of the Northern Indiana His- <br />torical Museum building ", <br />NORTHERN INDIANA <br />HISTORICAL SOCIETY <br />LAND USE CONSTRUC- <br />TION APPROVED, R -66 <br />
