Per the request of <br />rea Office in a memorandum dated March 8, 1972, <br />re requested to prepare amendatory applications <br />one of the two options available: <br />1) Amend the project contract or agreement so <br />that the first $25,000 of both relocation <br />payments and relocation services per claimant <br />are paid by HUD from January 2, 1971 up to <br />July 1, 1972 and to provide for sharing the <br />costs of such payments and services on the <br />project formula basis commencing July 1, <br />1972. <br />2) Amend the contract as permitted by an opinion <br />of the Comptroller General of November 5, <br />1971 to Secretary George Romney, so that re- <br />location payments (but no relocation services) <br />will be fully reimbursed by HUD; relocation <br />services will be shared on the project formula <br />basis. <br />It w4 the decision of the Department Staff to make the <br />amend tories under the second option. <br />Four resolutions have been prepared authorizing the filing <br />of an amendatory application for making of additional re- <br />locat on payments in accordance with the Uniform Relocation <br />Act of 1970, covering Projects E -3, the Northeast Code En- <br />forcement Project; E -5, the Model Cities Code Enforcement <br />Project; R -57, the LaSalle Park Project; and R -66, the <br />Central Downtown Urban Renewal Project.
