Mall Plans: A discussion followed on the PEDESTRIAN MALL PLANS
Mall
Mr. Wiggins asked if it would be possible for our Direc-
tor, at our next meeting, to have a report on the Mall
plans from Simonds and Simonds, and, if possible, be
prepared to tae some action on the Mall. He said he
would like to see some disposition on maintenance and
the Mall surface. This should be resolved and we should
get to it.
Mr. Taylor advised he wants to meet with the new City
Council, new City Administration, and the Park Depart-
ment, and resolve this problem -- primarily the one of
maintenance: want all of these new people aware of
what we are doing before we get ourselves committed."
President HelOn said he did not believe the Mall can be
resolved by th t time.
Mr. Taylor saic he had hoped that by the 15th of February,
we will be ablE to proceed with the final design of the
Mall. A decision by the 4th will be very difficult.
My problem is that I want to meet with the Park Commis-
sion, and they don't have a meeting until the first week
of February.
Mr. Wiggins re uested we see how much we can pull together
by the next me Ind ting. His feelings were that we have to
expedite this move on it.
Mr. Taylor sai he was with Phil Simonds yesterday and
will have as m ch by the 4th as he possibly can. He will
not be able to talk to the Park Department.
- 14 -
