4. rOMMUNICATIONS (Cont'd
HUD letter dated June 25, 1971, re Project
Ind. -5: HUD has al` ocated $273,000 as a grant to
assist in financing the Code Enforcement Project, for
a 12-inonth program. It will have to be reduced in
scope and size to meet the reduced grant amount. The
total Federal grant requested for three years was
$1,832,394.00. The Project has now been mandated to
ultim to completion within three years from the date
of ap roval in an amount not to exceed a maximum
Feder l grant estimate of $1,057,892.00. This will
not ;nstitute a commitment that further incremental fundg will actually be forthcoming in future years.
President Helmen requested a definition of "Code En-
forcement." Mr. Ashenfelter advised our inspection
staff inspects the homes within the boundaries to
determine the deficiencies as to their being habit-
able structurally and healthwise.
