<br />  						OF  THE  CITY  OF  SOUTH  BEND,   INDIANA,
<br />				AMENDING  ORDINANCE  NO.   8623-95  OF  THE  COMMON  COUNCIL
<br />      		OF  THE  CITY  OF  SOUTH  BEND,   INDIANA,   FIXING MAXIMUM  SALARIES  OF
<br />     				APPOINTED  OFFICERS  AND  NON-BARGAINING  EMPLOYEES
<br />    		OF  THE  CITY  OF  SOUTH  BEND,   INDIANA  FOR  CALENDAR  YEARS  1996,   1997
<br />     									AND  1998
<br />      						STATEMENT  OF  PURPOSE  AND  INTENT
<br />  						The   Common   Council   of   the   City   of   South   Bend,
<br />   		Indiana,   adopted  its  Ordinance  No.   8623-95  on  September  25,   1995,
<br />   		which  ordinance,  establishing  the  annual  compensation  for  all  non-
<br />   		bargaining   employee  positions   with   the   City  of   South  Bend,   for
<br />   		calendar  years  1996  through  1998,   inclusive.    Ordinance  No.  8623-95
<br />   		was  subsequently  amended by  Ordinance  No.   8649-95  to  make  certain
<br />   		technical  corrections.     The  Common  Council  has  determined  that  it
<br />   		is   required   that   Ordinance  No.   8623-95,   as   amended,   be   further
<br />   		amended  to  adjust  the  1997  and  1998  salaries  of  certain  positions,
<br />   		and  to  establish  hourly  rates  of  pay  that  correspond  to  the  annual
<br />   		compensation  for  all  non-bargaining  employee  positions.
<br />					NOW,   THEREFORE,  BE  IT  ORDAINED  BY  THE  COMMON  COUNCIL  OF
<br />   		THE  CITY  OF  SOUTH  BEND,   INDIANA,   as  follows:
<br />					SECTION  I .   	Section   I   of  Ordinance  No.   8623-95,   as
<br />   		amended by  Ordinance  No.  8649-95  shall  be  and  hereby  is  amended  to
<br />   		adjust   the   annual   compensation  for  the   following  non-bargaining
<br />   		employee  positions  in  calendar  years  1997  and  1998 :
