Approving the Sale of Park Property

The Park Board has been approached by the South Bend Housing Authority, a governmental entity involved in the provision of affordable housing and related tenant development programs, concerning its interest in acquiring Oliver Park for use in the development of its Alonzo Watson Housing University/ Campus of Learners Project. At its meeting of August 19, 1996, the Park Board determined that Oliver Park is not required for park purposes, as all existing programs and facilities will be duplicated and enhanced by the proposed Campus of Learners, and authorized the sale of Oliver Park. Pursuant to I.C. 36- 10 -4 -18, once the Park Board has determined that land under its control is no longer needed for park purposes, the Common Council shall determine whether to approve the sale of such land. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The sale of Oliver Park, as described hereinabove, is approved, subject to the condition that the South Bend Housing Authority receive the anticipated funding to complete the entire Campus of Learners Project. Section II. That Oliver Park be transferred by Quit -Claim Deed to the South Bend Housing Authority for the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) . Section III. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. Member, South Bend Comm n Council
