The Park Board has been approached by the South Bend Housing <br />Authority, a governmental entity involved in the provision of <br />affordable housing and related tenant development programs, <br />concerning its interest in acquiring Oliver Park for use in the <br />development of its Alonzo Watson Housing University/ Campus of <br />Learners Project. <br />At its meeting of August 19, 1996, the Park Board determined <br />that Oliver Park is not required for park purposes, as all existing <br />programs and facilities will be duplicated and enhanced by the <br />proposed Campus of Learners, and authorized the sale of Oliver <br />Park. <br />Pursuant to I.C. 36- 10 -4 -18, once the Park Board has <br />determined that land under its control is no longer needed for park <br />purposes, the Common Council shall determine whether to approve the <br />sale of such land. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section I. The sale of Oliver Park, as described hereinabove, <br />is approved, subject to the condition that the South Bend Housing <br />Authority receive the anticipated funding to complete the entire <br />Campus of Learners Project. <br />Section II. That Oliver Park be transferred by Quit -Claim <br />Deed to the South Bend Housing Authority for the sum of One Dollar <br />($1.00) . <br />Section III. This Ordinance shall be effective upon its <br />passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Member, South Bend Comm n Council <br />
