6. NEWIBUSINESS (Cont'd <br />f. Old City Hall and Pumping Station: An Agree- <br />ment was drawn by and between the Civil City of South <br />Bend and the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelop- <br />ment, to convey legal title to the following parcels for <br />the pur ose of obtaining non -cash credits to the Depart- <br />men t , in the total amount of $263,712.00, from the De <br />partmen of Housing and Urban Development: <br />Parcel No. 1: Real estate formerly used and <br />occupied by the Water Works of <br />the City of South Bend, known <br />as the Pumping Station <br />Parcel No. 2: Property formerly used and oc- <br />cupied by the Civil City of <br />South Bend as a City Hall and <br />parking lot. <br />The Circuit Court of St. Joseph County appointed ap- <br />praisers to appraise said real estate. Parcel No. 1 <br />was appraised for $10,704.00 and No. 2 for $253,008.00. <br />This Agr ement is subject to approval by Ordinance <br />of the Common Council of the City of South Bend. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. <br />Chenney to accept the old City Hall and the Pumping <br />Station, subject to approval of South Bend Common <br />Council. Said motion was unanimously carried. <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a. owntown Negotiations: Mr. Hubert M. Weaver <br />stated w ave 8 options to date, for a total of <br />$3,362,972, and have taken title to 62 parcels, for a <br />total of $2,274,416. In the post office area, we have <br />two settled without condemnation and have another who <br />has agre d to sign. Parcel Nos. 24 -3, 24 -4 and 24 -5 <br />will def nitely be in condemnation. <br />b. Business Relocation: Mr. Paul Becher gave a <br />report oil the downtown relocation and advised that every- <br />thing is going according to schedule, with one exception: <br />Four tenants remain (Parcel Nos. 23 -9 and 23 -10), but <br />will be out in time for demolition. The staff has defi- <br />nite commitments from two of the four, tenants; the-third <br />will be contacted shortly; the fourth will probably be <br />a temporary on -site move. Three businesses have indi- <br />cated they have secured new locations and have definite <br />relocation plans. One claim is before the: Commission <br />today. 6 expect to move within 60 days.
