The consensus of the Commission was to show just cause why the award should not go to the lowest bidd r, in this case, Dore Wrecking Company, Kawkawlin, Michigan, who submitted a bid of $22,380.00. Com- mission Legal Counsel, Mr. Hammerschmidt, stated he had to threaten Dore Wrecking Company in the past with default of contract,.on, several occassions, for work performed in the LaSalle.Park.Urban Renewal Proj ct, R -57, and the letters are in our files. We do h ve sufficient just cause not to take the lowest bid ere. The next lowest bidder was: Ritschard Bros., Inc. South Bend, with a bid of $24,940.00. Mr. Helm n stated Ritschard Bros., Inc. do an excellent job and he highly recommends their work performance. Mr: Kenny also concurred in the dependability and perf rmance of the firm. Mr. Wiggins said on the basis of the recommenda- tions, made, he moves for the motion that Demolition Contract No. 1 be awarded to Ritschard Bros., Inc., South Bend, for a bid of $24,940.00. Said motion was seconded by Rev. Williams, and unanimously carried by all Commissioners. President Wilhelm asked when work can be started on t e demolition? Mr. Ashenfelter said Demolition Cont act No 1 will now be submitted to HUD for con - curr nce and when concurrence is received, demolition can tart within 15 days.
