Michigan Street was constructed by George H. Service in 1g75_ It is architecturally the most significant Italianate stvle house on W. Michigan Street near the dnwn- town area, and the Services were one of the most prominent families in New Carlisle in the 1880' s. Jeremiah Service, his father, built his house the same year on the East side of town. George Service lived here until 1900 when the house was sold to William H. Hews. Hews livid here until 1905 spllinv it to John Davis who in turn sold it to Edgar Woolman in 1914. The house had several owners in the first half of the__2nth rpntiirl,_ It was purchased by current owners Marion & Ada Tuttle in 1968. Located on a large prominent corner lot, the rear yarn is enrtospd by a wrnught irnn fpnra and rho entire site is heavily landscanpri_ Originally rnnctriirtPd of 12prd brick, the house has been painted white and office/porch has been built to connect the house and garage.
