7. I PROGRESS REPORT (Cont'd) <br />This service is provided through the City's <br />Personnel Department, under the direction of Mr. <br />Vern Sutton. Following the selection of the best <br />qualified applicant.for the job, certain informa- <br />tion is required for payroll purposes. The,appli- <br />ca t is requested to provide the Controller's Of- <br />fice information required for payroll deductions, <br />such as social security number, hospitalization <br />coverage, United Fund contributions, and dependents. <br />This procedure informs the Controller's Office, <br />wh makes out the checks, that our computed payroll <br />is within the limits of the approved salary ordinance. <br />Our Department uses the forms provided by the City <br />forr consistency purposes. <br />Mr . Helmen stated that we should take a strong <br />. <br />po ition on the salaries when the opportune time <br />co es. <br />8.
