BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />On motion by Rev. Williams, seconded by Mr. Helmen, <br />the rehabilitation grants for the above- stated <br />parcels were unanimously approved. <br />Specifications for Parcel No. 15 -17: <br />Specifications for a home to e. uilt byy Bowe r <br />Homes, Inc., on Parcel No. 15 -17, in the LaSalle <br />Park Urban Renewal Project, R-57,-were presented <br />to the Commission for approval. The parcel is <br />located on Camden Street, Lot Nos. 92 and 93, and <br />the dimension of the home is -26' x 38', at an ap -. <br />proximate cost of $15,200.00,.carpeted. On motion <br />by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Rev. Williams., the speci- <br />fica ions were approved subject to staff's study to• <br />meet project standards. <br />PARCEL NO. 15 -17, <br />SPECIFICATIONS, <br />LASALLE PARK URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT, <br />R -57 <br />Mr. Bellinger apprised that all buildings constructed <br />in the LaSalle Park area must have Commission approval <br />as to character in concept of meeting the objectives <br />of the urban renewal -plan. Also that we are very . <br />anxious to encourage sound development in the LaSalle <br />Park heighborhood. <br />d. LaSalle Building Sign: A proposed sign <br />arran ement was submitted for the LaSalle Building, <br />per o r requirement that signs, as well as new con - <br />struc ion drawings be submitted for Commission ap- <br />prova for the Central Downtown Project. Mr. Bell- <br />inger apprised the sign arrangement would be facing <br />Michi an Street, and the sign will identify the perk- <br />ing a ea and certain activities or functions of the <br />hotel <br />Mr. Helmen asked if this sign will.be on their real <br />estate. Mr. Bellinger said it would be, but may be <br />proposed to extend to the street right -of -way. Mr. <br />Helmeii also asked if the swimming pool with deck <br />parki g is contemplated and Mr. Bellinger stated <br />they re going to go ahead - -there is no change in <br />plans as far as we know. <br />President Wiggins stated we would be better off to <br />stay with the established procedure, or we may re- <br />ceive many exceptions. Mr. Helmen brought up the <br />subject of Mr. Burkhart, his concern in the past, <br />regarding billboards specifically.. Mr. Bellinger <br />apprised billboards are controlled in the Down- <br />town Urban Renewal area - -also flashing signs. Mr. <br />Burkhart felt some restrictions are too strong to <br />provi a business with adequate advertising. Presi- <br />dent Wiggins stated the LaSalle Building needs <br />identification for their parking lot. - Mr. Helmen <br />state in the Downtown Program, we will have a lot <br />-6- <br />LASALLE BUILDING SIGN, <br />CENTRAL DOWNTOWN URBAN <br />RENEWAL PROJECT, R -66 <br />
