NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />President Wiggins stated this contract will wind, <br />up all the demolition work in the LaSalle Park <br />Urban Renewal Project and the lots will all be <br />cleaned, graded, seeded and put in saleable condi- <br />tion. <br />Mrs. Jllen inquired if the old,.junk cars, old <br />refri erators, etc., can be hauled away. Presi- <br />dent iiggins stated that anything on our.property <br />can b hauled away. On anything the Department <br />does rot own, this then becomes a matter of City <br />ordin nce as to what can or can't be done and is <br />up to the Police and the Health Departments. <br />The Chair entertained a motion on Demolition <br />Contract No. 5, and Mr. Wilhelm said the Com- <br />missi n's policy is to take the low bidder. On <br />motior by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Helmen, <br />Demolition Contract No. 5 was awarded to the low <br />bidde , Woodruff & Sons, Inc., Michigan City, <br />India a. Approval was unanimous by all _Comnis- <br />sione s. <br />d. Invest Funds: Authorization was requested <br />from the Commission to invest funds from the Re -. <br />development District Capital Fund, in the amount <br />of One Hundred Twenty -Five Thousand ($125,000.00) <br />Dollars, for a period of six (6) months. .On motion <br />by Mr. Wilhelm, seconded by Mr. Chenney, authoriza- <br />tion was granted to invest the above amount for a <br />perioc of six (6) months.. The "ayes" were unanimous <br />fora Droval. <br />6. PROGRESS REPORT <br />a. Relocation: Three families have recently <br />been elocatedout of LaSalle Park; one to: private <br />sales, one to public housing, and the other to <br />private rental. Three families were also recently <br />relocated from Industrial Expansion Project, with <br />the s me distribution. <br />b. Greater South Bend Housing Corporation: <br />Rev. girk apprised the Commission that at 11:00 A.M., <br />today, August 1, 1969, the first family will move <br />into the LaSalle Apartments built by the Greater <br />South Bend Housing Corporation, under the rent <br />SUpplEment program, and this first family is one <br />of our LaSalle Park residents. Mr. Wilhelm said <br />that this is good news.
