Washington street Asphalt Pavement.....- The Barber Asphalt Paving Co.. <br />The following communication was received:- <br />South Bend, Indiana'June 1"th, 190g. <br />Board of Public Works, <br />City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: -- <br />Acknowledging receipt of your communication of the 17th inst. with <br />reference to the flooding of Howard Park and an alleged raising of our dam in this <br />City, the South Bend Mfg. Co. respect='ully calls attention to the fact that the dam <br />as repaired is lower in height than originally built and that the original <br />construction in no way exceeded our charter rights. In view of which we must deny <br />.any liability in so restoring our property to its former efficiency. <br />Very respectfully, <br />South Bend Manufacturing Co., <br />By "L.
