4. <br />BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />the interim, a home on 2622 W- Napier Street has - <br />become vacant and can be porchased for approx - <br />mately $1,500, plus taxes. ,The Rehabilitation staff- <br />feel s this home can be rehabilitated_; 'for the 'Reloca- <br />tion 0 fice use and placed`in excellent condition; <br />which oul d be resold for a single family-use when <br />no longer needed for a site office - There is'ade- <br />quate oom for expansion =of the Ge fora four- <br />bedroom unit on completion-of the rehabilitation <br />work. Mr. Helmen.stated the 318 S.'Dundee rehabili- <br />tation is too high. <br />Mr. Bellinger requested aothorization,to purchase <br />the ho se at 2622 W. Napier, for an acquisition <br />price f $1,500, plus taxes and authoiiiation to <br />procee with the rehabilitatidCa ' as requested, : -and <br />purchase the house at 318 S: DGndee!Street through <br />the no al Federally- assisted approach. On 156tion <br />by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Rev:- Williams authori- <br />zation was given to purchase, with District Capital <br />Funds, the house at 2622. W' :Napier : Street and` to <br />proceed with rehabilitation, and to purchase the <br />substa dard dwelling at 318 S. Dundee-Street-through., <br />the normal procedure. The "ayes" were unanimous by <br />all Commissioners <br />f. LaSalle Park Rehabilitation =Pro ert Mr: LASALLE;PARK URBAN <br />Bellin er apprised the,Commission of the proposal RENEWAL PROJECT, <br />and po si- bi'lity'of selling certain substandard 'R -57 <br />dwelli gs i -n the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal ;Pro- <br />ject 9 o the Greater South'Bend'Housing Corporation, <br />who will rehabilitate these homes under the non- <br />profit 221(h) program, and, in turn, 'Sell the'rehabi- <br />litated properties to low- income families, with 3% <br />financing. He stated the Greater South Be "nd Housing <br />Corporation has certain .latitudes and funds -to under- <br />take these kinds of programs <The sale of these <br />properties to the Greater•South Bend Housing Corpo <br />ration would have to be through public offering. <br />Mr. Bellinger stated further inVestigation- must be <br />undertaken -in order to assure the success of this <br />undettaking. Oh- motion by Mr. Wilhelm, seconded <br />by Rev. Williams, the staff was authorized to pro- <br />ceed with the necessary -steps in hopes of ach1evirg <br />the obj ctivesof further rehabi- litation work An <br />collaboration with the Greater.
