5. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd e. Open Discussion: President Wiggins asked the me bers of the Press and guests if they had any questi ns this morning. 1. Mrs. Janet S. Allen asked: "What are your plans for industrial clearance ?" President Wiggins said for the area south of the Cummins property, we have parties lined up and waiting for the pr perty; in fact, there will be a choice. Mr. Wi helm stated that the recent announcement has no bea ing on the sale of the ground. President Wiggin stated this area-is well located, and be- cause f the changes in the \downtown area, the partie are waiting for the opportunity to purchase the pr perty. The success of°the Sample Street Project has made the area more attractive and in- viting. This is a good industri.41 potential and the Cummin bui`lding_ is" excellent; for warehousing and. allied uses of this nature. 2. Mrs. Jane Maager asked that if any business in the Downtown area wanted to expand within the Downtown area, if they have to be ap- proached by the Commission at this stage; that is, in terms of expansion or remodeling? President Wiggin stated our staff would like to counsel with a y of the business firms who contemplate any remodeling or extensive changes, so the firms can be in onformity with the over -all plan. It is a shared concern, as no business firm wants to make change that would stand out, but want to be like others and be in conformity. 3. Mrs. Allen raised the question on Osco's new building and President Wiggins stated Mr. Ba be apprised them that Osco's have been in consultation with this office within two hours after their building burned. 6.
