4. <br />T <br />,HEREAS, OLIVER SCOTT in the performance <br />of his duties as Relocation Director for the <br />South Bend Department of Redevelopment re- <br />ceived widespread commendation and recogni- <br />tion not only for constructive pioneering <br />in a comparatively new and difficult field, <br />but more importantly because he never lost <br />sight of people as individuals and both the <br />people > -anc; their problems were always im- <br />portant to him, and: <br />- 4- <br />a. Mrs. Judy Kellogg, working with the Greater <br />GREATER SOUTH BEND <br />South <br />Bend Housing Corporation, recognizes the loss <br />HOUSING CORPORATION <br />we have <br />suffered by the death of Mr. Oliver J. Scott. <br />LASALLE PARK URBAN <br />They <br />have assured us they will continue to work <br />RENEWAL PROJECT, <br />closely <br />with us on the 221 -h Program. The Greater <br />R -57 <br />South <br />Bend Housing Corporation secures properties, <br />rehabilitates <br />and sells them. This program offers <br />strong <br />potential for future rehousing resources. <br />b. S. M. Dix & Associates, Inc., letter dated <br />S.M. DIX & ASSOC. <br />December <br />2, 1968, is requesting a 30 -day extension <br />CENTRAL DOWNTOWN <br />for the <br />completion of the irremovable fixture ap- <br />URBAN RENEWAL <br />prais <br />ls, in the Central Downtown Urban Renewal Pro- <br />PROJECT, R -66 <br />ject, <br />R -66. They stated the added time is needed to <br />assure <br />maximum quality of work and have requested a <br />30-day <br />extension. The appraisal of irremovable fix- <br />tures <br />would be completed by the end of this month. <br />The areas <br />designated for early acquisition have al- <br />ready <br />been completed and submitted to HUD for ap- <br />proval. <br />On motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. <br />Helme <br />, the 30 -day extension was authorized by the <br />Commission <br />for completion of the work by S. M. Dix & <br />Associates, <br />Inc. <br />S. OLD <br />BUSINESS <br />a <br />A Resolution eulogizing Oliver J. Scott, <br />RESOLUTION <br />Relocation <br />Director for the Department of Redevelop- <br />EULOGIZING <br />ment, <br />was presented by President Wiggins. On motion <br />OLIVER -J. SCOTT <br />by Mr. <br />Helmen, seconded by Reverend Kirk, this resolu- <br />tion <br />s adopted this 5th day of December, 1968, and is <br />to be <br />a permanent part of our records. A special copy <br />was p <br />epared and is being framed, to be given to Mrs. <br />Olive <br />J. Scott, along with other material commemora- <br />tive <br />o her husband.
