T e Redevelopment Commission was apprised that PROGRESS REPORTS <br />substantial progress is being made in the rehabilita- <br />tion cf properties in the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal <br />Project, R -57. To date, the Commission has approved <br />grantE totalling $139,579.00. In addition, loans <br />totalling $147,200 have been approved. Many individual <br />prope ty owners are rehabilitating their homes through <br />their own efforts and not relying on Federally- assisted <br />grant and /or loans. Approximately $100,000 of self <br />rehabilitation work is currently under way. <br />M . Bellinger apprised the Commission that HUD <br />will iequire further soil investigation before selling <br />additional property in the LaSalle Urban Renewal Pro- <br />ject. The staff hopes to present to the Commission, <br />in th next few weeks, a proposed contract to do.the <br />neces ary soil investigation. <br />Mrs. Allen asked the question: "What can be <br />done to prohibit persons from driving over the back <br />of the cul -de -sacs located in the LaSalle Urban Re- <br />newal Project ?" Mrs. Allen was apprised that the <br />Commission has attempted to solve this problem, and, <br />as ye , has not come up with a solution.
