therefore the Commission authorized the execution of these two <br />addenda to the Water Works Contract for LaSalle Park Project, <br />R -57, in which 252 feet of 16" water mains will be installed on <br />Kaley and N wcome Streets at a cost of $5,153.35, and 1,214 feet <br />of water mains will be replaced on certain portions of Washington, <br />Camden, Liberty, and Bendix Streets at a cost of $7,101.90. <br />Commission approval was given for these addenda on motion by <br />Mr. Helmen, seconded by Rev. Kirk. Also in connection with the <br />City Water Department and LaSalle Park Project, R -57, the Com <br />mission was apprised of a possible third work item involving the <br />relocation f 200 stop boxes for which the Redevelopment Depart - <br />ment will b responsible for payment, subject to approval of the <br />HUD office in Chicago. Mr. Bellinger alerted the Commission to this <br />possible expense and said by the next meeting a map will be provided <br />illustrating the location of the stop boxes and the description of <br />the trouble. <br />d. Insofar as the Commission has authorized the execution of <br />the Industrial Expansion Project, the staff has prepared two con- <br />tracts, one with Abstract Co. of St. Joseph County, and one with <br />Abstract Corp. of South 'Bend, which involves title and abstract <br />searches and examinations of each structure and ultimately guaran- <br />teeing a clear title. The contracts are not to exceed $2,000 each. <br />Also in connection with this project, the property management policy <br />has been prepared for Commission approval. It is identical to the <br />approved LaSalle Park property management policy, with the exception <br />that the free rental period would be extended to owner 'and /or tenant. <br />Commission approval was granted for the adoption of the two abstract <br />contracts along with the property management policy for the Indus- <br />trial Expansion Project, R -56, subject to legal counsel approval, <br />on motion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Rev. Kirk. <br />e. The plans for the LaSalle Park Homes have been submitted <br />by the Greater South Bend Housing Corporation, and upon staff <br />review, have been found to be consistent with the urban renewal <br />plan for,-the LaSalle Park.Project, R -57. These plans were . <br />developed wi hin the financial limitations approved by the FHA <br />for this dev lopment. Since these housing units will be built <br />within the L Salle Park Project, Commission approval was received <br />for the plan in that they meet the plan objectives and standards <br />for the urba renewal plan, on motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by <br />Mr. Chenney. <br />6. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a. New homes construction, LaSalle Park, R -57. It is hopeful <br />that the sta f will ave Mr. Place's plans or construction of a, <br />new house in the project area by the next Commission meeting. It <br />was noted th t the other approved builders are not in process as <br />yet,.and onl 30 days are permitted in which to begin construction <br />after the de d is executed. It was explained that FHA inspections <br />are made of he new construction, following the City inspection, <br />after the ho se is completed.
