4. <br />Two telegrams have been received from Washington, D. <br />C. notifying the staff of approval for the Part Il Amen - <br />datories for the Chapin Street Project and the LaSalle <br />Park Project. This approval for the Chapin Street Project <br />makes a total grant of 1.5 million, and for the LaSalle <br />Park Proje t, approximately 2.9 million. The additional <br />appropriations will be used for additional project improve- <br />ments and related activities to carry out these two urban <br />renewal or .iects. <br />5. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. In <br />considering the 6 reuse appraisal proposals in <br />SELECTION OF THREE <br />connection <br />with the Central Downtown Project, R -66, the <br />REUSE APPRAISERS, <br />Commission <br />reviewed the following submissions: (1) Ronald <br />CENTRAL DOWNTOWN <br />E. Gettel of <br />Fort Wayne, (2) Urban Research Associates of <br />PROJECT, R -66 <br />Washington, <br />D. C., (3) Real Estate Research Corporation of <br />Chicago, ( <br />Larry Smith and Company of Chicago, (5) Grose- <br />close, Williams <br />and Associates of Washington, D. C. and <br />(6) North Central <br />Appraisal Company of South Bend. From <br />these 6 proposals, <br />the Commission selected the three inde- <br />pendent appraisers, <br />(1) Urban Research Associates, (2) <br />North Central <br />Appraisal Company, (3) Larry Smith and Com- <br />pany, subject <br />to the Chicago HUD office approval, with <br />the contracts <br />not to exceed the budgeted amount, upon motion <br />by Mr. Kompar, <br />seconded by Rev. Kirk. The staff will be <br />in a position <br />to execute these contracts at a later date, <br />and at the <br />time of release the contract time will be 90 <br />days for completion. <br />b. The <br />Commission adopted Resolution 217 which in <br />RESOLUTION 217, <br />effect waivers <br />any default and releases any obligation of <br />LASALLE PARK PRO - <br />the Place and <br />Company in connection with disposition par- <br />JECT, R -57 <br />eels identified <br />as 19 -4, 33 -9, and 33 -10 in the LaSalle <br />Park Project <br />as outlined in the special minutes of April <br />23, 1968, and <br />furthermore accepts the alternate bids for <br />the respective <br />parcels by Mr. Robert Batteast and Laymen <br />Chapel Church, <br />on motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. <br />Chenney. Mr. <br />Place felt this action would be in the best <br />interest of <br />the total development of the project area. <br />c. Five <br />rehabilitation grants received Commission <br />FIVE REHABILITATION <br />approval fov <br />parcels known as 21 -10, 22 -39, 33 -13, 39 -3 and <br />GRANTS APPROVED, <br />44 -18 in the <br />LaSalle Park Project, R -57, on motion by Rev. <br />LASALLE PARK PROJECT, <br />Kirk, secon <br />ed by Mr. Kompar. This brings to a total of <br />R -57 <br />35 structures <br />that have been rehabilitated to comply with <br />the Project <br />standard by use of the federal grants made <br />available ta <br />residents within urban renewal projects. <br />Rehabilitation <br />grants cannot exceed $1,500. <br />6.
